Liverpool had a quiet summer transfer window, yet all signs seem to be pointing towards 2025 being a big year of signings for the Reds.
The Anfield side could see Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah all leave Merseyside next summer, with the trio’s contracts due to expire at the end of the season with renewals unlikely at this stage.
With Liverpool eyeing Jeremie Frimpong as a replacement for Alexander-Arnold, work is being done behind the scenes at the Reds to ensure that these three players are succeeded by top-quality options who could make an impact under Arne Slot.
And Liverpool are now leading the chase for one forward who could do just that.

Liverpool leading race for Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush
According to Bild, Liverpool are out in front in the battle to sign Omar Marmoush, who this season with Eintracht Frankfurt has been one of the best players in all of Europe with 12 goals and nine assists in all competitions.
As per the report, Liverpool are beating the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United for Marmoush’s signature, who could leave Frankfurt next summer for £50m if the Egyptian international’s form continues at this terrific pace.
Noted as a forward with ‘blistering pace’ as per KingFut, the versatile winger could be a dream attacking signing for Liverpool, who could eye Marmoush as the ideal successor to Salah if the 32-year-old was to leave Anfield next summer.
Even with Marmoush not a natural right-winger, the Frankfurt star’s form is hard to ignore this season, and Slot could be keen to get his hands on the Bundesliga sensation as part of Liverpool’s new-look attack for the new campaign.

Would Marmoush be the right successor for Salah at Liverpool?
Finding a successor for Salah at Liverpool could be as hard as trying to find an heir to Jurgen Klopp, yet the Reds managed just that this summer with the appointment of Slot from Feyenoord.
| Mohamed Salah’s 2024/25 stats | Omar Marmoush’s 2024/25 stats | |
| Games played | 15 | 14 |
| Goals | 9 | 12 |
| Assists | 7 | 9 |
And as per the two Egyptian international’s stats for this season, it’s clear that Marmoush is hitting the sort of numbers that would make any Liverpool fan excited when it came to finding a potential replacement for Salah.
At 23-years-old, Marmoush is yet to hit his peak having enjoyed a breakout year at Frankfurt, and Liverpool could be a logical next step for the Bundesliga star as a replacement for Salah.
