Liverpool recorded a statement 4-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen to ruin Xabi Alonso’s return to Anfield as they made it four wins from four UEFA Champions League games under Arne Slot.
Luis Diaz was the star of the show as his second-half hat trick coupled with a Cody Gakpo header set the Reds on their way to a commanding win.
It was a memorable night for the Colombian, who scored his first Treble since joining Liverpool in January 2022.
After the game, Diaz’s popular chant was played on the PA system to celebrate one of his best outings for Liverpool.
And one Ibrahima Konate couldn’t help but join in on the act as the Reds celebrated their iconic win.
Ibrahima Konate joins Liverpool fans’ iconic Luis Diaz chant

Diaz is clearly a big fan of his new Liverpool chant and Anfield sang his song in full voice after his fantastic display in the second half.
After breaking the deadlock with a brilliant chip, Diaz added two more goals late in the game to put the seal on an emphatic one.
As the fans continued to chant his name, a video emerged of Konate taking part in the celebrations as he appeared to join in on the act while making his way off the pitch.
Diaz’s stats vs Leverkusen
Slot lauded Diaz for his performance against Brighton last week and the attacker repaid his manager’s faith in him with a fantastic treble against one of the most exciting teams in Europe.
His underlying numbers from the game are as follows:
- One key pass
- Three shots on target
- Three goals
- 1.64 xG
- 35 touches with an 88% pass accuracy (22/25 passes completed)
WIth Diaz and Gakpo performing so well and Mohamed Salah’s spot in the starting XI virtually untouchable, Liverpool are unlikely to tinker with their attack as they prepare to take on Aston Villa next.
