Mo Salah delivers interesting training ground message for Darwin Nunez ahead of Liverpool vs Brighton

Liverpool have the chance to get back to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Reds drew last time out against Arsenal but have already bounced back with a Carabao Cup win over Brighton in midweek.

Saturday sees the same opposition come to Anfield for a game which is unlikely to be straightforward for Liverpool.

If the Reds are going to win, they’ll surely need to score a fair few goals. Although it has not always been the case this season, Brighton are usually one of the more free-scoring Premier League sides.

And again set to be without Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa, much of the goal-scoring burden for Liverpool will lie on the shoulders of Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez.

The pair combined to grab the vital equaliser against Arsenal last Sunday and ahead of another Premier League fixture, Salah has been seen giving an interesting message to Nunez at the Liverpool training ground.

Mo Salah delivers Darwin Nunez message

Nunez’s slide pass for Salah to stick past David Raya on Sunday was the second time in two games that the pair have combined for a goal.

The previous Wednesday, it was Salah who turned provider, nodding goalward for Nunez to tap home against RB Leipzig.

The goal against Arsenal was the 15th time the two forwards have linked up to score in the Premier League for Liverpool. That puts them in the top 10 of all-time for the Reds.

So, quietly, Salah and Nunez have become a really effective partnership for Liverpool.

But judging by what Salah was spotted saying to Nunez during LFCTV’s Inside Training series on Friday, it looks as though there won’t be another one to savour on Saturday.

“No pass tomorrow!” shouts the Egyptian as he wanders out onto the training pitches. “No, no, no, no. No!”

After Nunez hits back something indistinguishable, Salah can unmistakably be heard saying “I want a goal for you,” to his Uruguayan teammate.

Darwin Nunez could do with a goal

Salah was perhaps fair to be momentarily annoyed by his latest assist for Nunez.

The 25-year-old poked the ball into the Leipzig net from a yard out. It looked like if he had left it, the ball would have bounced in for a Salah goal.

Nevertheless, the two players clearly have a very good relationship. It was Darwin’s first goal since September 21st and Mo will have recognised the importance of that.

On Saturday, the No.9 could really do with getting on the scoresheet again. With Jota out he is the undisputed starter through the middle of the attack and still does not have a league goal since the one against Bournemouth in September.

A Salah goal is always welcome too, of course, but we’d love to see Nunez on the scoresheet on Saturday. And it sounds like Mo would as well.
