Liverpool fans have been lucky enough to watch some incredible players over recent seasons.

Under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds assembled a team that conquered England, Europe and the world.

Some of the players who made up that legendary Liverpool squad are still at the club, with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk already etched in as icons at Anfield.

But over the last few years, other Liverpool legends of the Klopp era have slowly started to depart.

That could hit hyperdrive at the end of the current campaign, with Salah, Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold all out of contract.

Of the three, Salah’s legacy is perhaps the biggest. But according to Curtis Jones, the Egyptian was not the best player of Klopp’s trophy-grabbing side.

Curtis Jones hails Roberto Firmino

Jones has been fortunate enough to have come through into the Liverpool first-team learning from some fantastic players.

Although the Liverpool academy graduate was too young to truly play a part in the peak Klopp years, he was still in and around things.

Having made his first-team debut at the start of 2019 and become a regular 18 months or so later, Jones still had plenty of time to call some amazing players teammates.

And Sky Sports have now ran a poll for fans to share which player they think the Scouser will name as the best he has played with at Liverpool.

“I think they’re saying Mo, one,” says Jones with the presenter then revealing that Salah had indeed won ‘by a landslide.’

“In terms of your goals, your assists, probably one of the best in the world since he’s come to our club for things like that,” added Jones.

However, Curtis went on to say that the fans were in fact wrong. Instead, the midfielder backed Roberto Firmino as his number one former teammate.

“The best player in my opinion that I was just like, wow, amazed by every single day is Firmino,” he said. “Firmino’s a man that if you understand the game and you’re in love with the actual game and you can take the goals and assists away – and I get that they win you games and stuff – if you really love the game and you want to see a man who really understand the game and brings everybody into play then he’s the best.”

Virgil van Dijk agrees with Curtis Jones on Firmino

This may come as a surprise for fans who voted in this particular poll – although it was revealed that they did put Firmino in third place. But for anybody paying attention, it should not have been a shock.

Back in April 2024, Van Dijk also named Firmino as the best player he’d seen at Liverpool.

“I think Bobby Firmino has been a big figure in the success we had over the last years,” the captain told Gary Lineker.

“He kept those two next to him [Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah], who are outstanding and maybe one of the best wingers in Premier League history, kept them together.”

The best in the world is Bobby Firmino. A Liverpool legend without a shadow of a doubt.
