The January transfer window is slowly approaching, and Jamie Gittens is emerging as a target for Liverpool.

The Borussia Dortmund winger has been one of the best players in the Bundesliga this season, with Gittens bagging five goals and three assists in all competitions with the former Manchester City academy forward finally starting to realise his potential.

Now, Liverpool are interested in signing Gittens, with the England youth international linked with a return back to the Premier League after a fantastic start to the new season with Dortmund, where the attacker’s performances are starting to catch the eye.

And last night saw Gittens make history against Real Madrid.

Gittens becomes youngest English player to score vs Real Madrid

Putting Dortmund 2-0 up before half-time, Gittens became the youngest English player to ever score against Madrid, with Los Blancos hitting back with a vengeance in the second-half to put five past the German giants to secure a 5-2 win.

Turning 20 this summer, Gittens has firmly established himself as one of the most exciting young players in all of Europe this season, with the winger a potential candidate to break into the England senior squad next year under Thomas Tuchel.

And making history against Madrid could go a long way in Liverpool moving for Gittens, who reportedly has an asking price of £83m according to Bild, with Dortmund hugely impressed with their new star winger.

Indeed, Gittens’ age could make the forward an ideal target for Liverpool in 2025, and making history against the biggest team in the sport in Madrid could impact how the Reds move for the Dortmund youngster next year.

Gittens could be Liverpool’s next great attacker

Although Luis Diaz has thrived as Liverpool’s left-winger this season under Arne Slot, a long-term replacement will need to be addressed sooner rather than later, and Gittens could be the perfect option.

The forward is coming to his own this season at Dortmund with Gittens performing on the biggest stage of all in the Champions League, with the 20-year-old impressing against the likes of Madrid and Club Brugge.

And heading into 2025, Liverpool need to make Gittens a top attacking target, with the winger having all the tools needed to become a real star for the Reds as part of the next generation of the club.
