When Liverpool are expecting Harvey Elliott to fit and available again as he returns to jogging

Harvey Elliott has endured a difficult season with Liverpool having made just one appearance from the bench before suffering an injury in September.

The England youth international suffered a fractured foot that has kept the Liverpool midfielder out of action for the best part of a month, though Elliott did tease last week that he is close to returning to the field for the Reds.

With Liverpool’s schedule ramping up by several levels after this international break, having Elliott back in action sooner rather than later will be huge for the Anfield side in their bid to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League.

And Liverpool now have a good idea on when Elliott will be available again.

Elliott set to return to action for Liverpool at the end of October

According to the Athletic, Elliott is due to return for Liverpool at the end of this month, with the 21-year-old talent not ready just yet to feature for the Reds for this weekend’s Premier League tie against Chelsea.

As per the report, Elliott is now jogging again at Kirkby having been away from training for a month, with the former Fulham wonderkid close to making a full return to action having picked up an injury at an awkward time during the season.

Indeed, Elliott could be a useful player for Arne Slot in the coming weeks with Liverpool’s fixture list as congested as a Premier League side could be with the Reds competing in the league, UEFA Champions League and League Cup.

And with rotation necessary if players are to remain fit, Elliott could sense an opportunity to really impress his new manager with minutes from the bench in central midfield, a position where Liverpool need as much quality depth as possible.

Elliott knows he can make an impact when back from injury

Elliott is one of Liverpool’s most exciting talents having been part of the first-team for the best part of three years, with the England youth international a regular in Jurgen Klopp’s final years at Anfield.

And with the midfielder close to returning to injury, the 21-year-old knows he can make a sizeable impact under Slot if given the chance to impress, something Elliott will be itching to do after a month away from the field.

The fixture list will give Elliott multiple chances to prove his worth in this Liverpool squad, and minutes in the Premier League and Champions League could open the door for the youngster to stake a claim in the main starting XI if the midfielder impresses enough.
