Liverpool are keeping their fingers crossed that all 16 of their players out on international duty return to the club fit and well.
The Reds have a really difficult run of fixtures coming up once club football resumes later in October.
Having seen Alisson Becker already go down with what looks like a semi-serious injury, Arne Slot will be desperate not to lose any more of his Liverpool squad.
Unfortunately, that’s often easier said than done. The Reds had a punishing schedule heading into the latest pause in play and some Liverpool players already have a lot of football in their legs this season.
One player who that certainly applies to Alexis Mac Allister, who has played in all ten of Liverpool’s games so far, starting nine.
And after Mac Allister was subbed off at half-time against Crystal Palace on Saturday, Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni has provided a new update on the 25-year-old’s fitness.

Lionel Scaloni confirms Alexis Mac Allister injury
Liverpool could really do without Mac Allister exacerbating the problem which showed up against Palace.
With such a difficult run coming up they will badly need the former Brighton man, who has had a quietly superb start to the campaign.
Worryingly, Mac Allister is just as key for Argentina as he is for Liverpool, hence why his national team still called him up despite the player having a clear knock.
And ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia on Thursday and Wednesday respectively, Scaloni shared the current situation regarding Mac Allister.

“Alexis is training differently,” admitted the World Cup winning coach. “Let’s see if he is ready for the first game.
“For now he has not been able to train with us and we will make the decision if he is part of the squad or the bench. But today it is difficult for him.
“I think we have to take care of him,” Scaloni continued. “He is a boy who comes with a lot of games and today the situation is like this.”
Alexis Mac Allister should never have travelled
In reality, there is absolutely no way that Mac Allister should have flown halfway across the world to join up with his national team this October.
Scaloni is clearly aware that the £55m man has played a lot of football and there is little merit in having him there simply to train separately from the main group.
As Argentine journalist Gaston Edul also reiterated on Tuesday, there is no real chance of Mac Allister playing Thursday’s evening’s game against Venuzuela.
“Alexis Mac Allister will not play from the start in order to be in good shape for the match against Bolivia,” Edul writes on X.
Argentina will likely beat Bolivia with or without Mac Allister. And with that game coming just four days before Liverpool take on Chelsea at Anfield, you can’t imagine the Reds will be at all happy with these updates.
