Micah Richards jokingly blasts Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah for ‘spoiling his whole day’ recently

Liverpool have been hitting the back of the net with a good deal of frequency under Arne Slot so far.

In the nine games they’ve played with Slot at the helm, the Reds have only failed to score at least twice on one occasion.

With 22 goals scored across those nine games, it has not exactly been ‘thrill a minute’ from Liverpool. But it has been good enough.

The one game the Reds did not score two goals or more in was the only one they haven’t won so far. The shock defeat against Nottingham Forest at Anfield in September continues to reverberate.

Liverpool drew a blank against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, leaving Mohamed Salah without a goal or assist in the Premier League for the only time so far this campaign.

And while Salah himself will have been frustrated and disappointed with his performance against Forest, it turns out that he was far from the only one to be annoyed that day.

Micah Richards jokingly roasts Mohamed Salah

Salah sets extraordinarily high standards for himself and although he was far from the only one off-colour against Forest, he will have expected better.

The Egyptian has since bounced back, of course, and Salah matched a record set by John Barnes after scoring and assisting against Bologna on Wednesday.

The rate at which Liverpool’s No.11 either scores or sets up his teammates to do so has made him a must-buy for players of Premier League Fantasy Football.

However, Micah Richards has claimed that as Salah has a comparatively big price-tag, he was left fuming with his former Fiorentina teammate after the loss against Forest.

“I saw him in the office when we were doing Match of the Day and Salah had a game where he didn’t score and he had him in his fantasy team,” Gary Lineker said while hosting The Rest Is Football.

“He spoilt my whole day!” laughed Richards. “Honestly, Mo, if you’re listening. Mo if you’re listening! You are 12.5 million on fantasy football. No disrespect, but if you’re that price I need a goal or assist every single week. I’m not asking for a hat-trick, I’m just asking for a little bit of something. Just a little something.”

“He’s got his proper motivation now Mo Salah,” Alan Sherer chipped in. “Micah Richards has told him he has to score or assist for his fantasy team. I bet he’s thinking ‘I’ve got to do it for Big Meeks! I’ve got to do it!'”

Salah still setting the standards

Richards knows Salah very well and the former Man City defender is clearly joking here.

But his point does go to show just what is expected of Liverpool’s Egyptian King, even as he continues deeper into his thirties.

Salah has been a brilliant player for the Reds ever since he arrived in 2017. Now one of the greatest players in Liverpool history, he has been scoring and assisting pretty much ever since.

Should Mo keep doing that at a similar rate this season, then the pressure on Liverpool to give him a new contract will be overwhelming.

If they decide not to, or Salah rejects what they put on the table, then before they know it, Richards and the other millions of fantasy football players are going to learn just exactly how good they had it with Mo.
