Liverpool have a big game on Tuesday evening as they head to San Siro to take on AC Milan.
After a disappointing defeat against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday, the Reds have the chance to bounce back as their Champions League campaign gets underway.
The first game of the revamped format sees Liverpool fly to Italy, where one of European football’s true giants awaits.
Milan may not be the force they once were, but the Rossoneri and Liverpool have 13 Champions League and European Cup titles between them. Six back at Anfield for the Reds and seven for their Italian counterparts.
And while Milan may no longer boast the huge stars they were once famed for within their squad, they still have some recognisable faces preparing for the match.

Alvaro Morata shares ‘good memories’ of Liverpool
Milan’s last two Champions League finals have come against Liverpool. They famously threw the 2005 edition away in Istanbul, before getting revenge two years later in Athens.
The teams that took to the field for those two meetings were packed full of some of the biggest and best players of their time.
A quick look through the Milan side of 2024 will tell you that those days are gone at San Siro.
Nevertheless, they do have a number of players who Liverpool will have to be wary of. One of those is Alvaro Morata, who joined Milan after captaining Spain to glory at this summer’s European Championship.
And speaking via liverpool.com ahead of Tuesday’s match-up with Liverpool, Morata has admitted that he has enjoyed playing against the Reds in the past.

“I have good memories in the past against Liverpool,” says the 31-year-old. “But now a new chapter begins. We have the number seven on our sleeve, it’s a responsibility.
“We have to improve but there is a lot of quality in this team and we can grow.
“When I signed with this club I didn’t imagine I would play the first Champions League match against Liverpool at San Siro,” Morata added.
“It’s a match that in the past was worth a final, a game that made the history of this sport. We can’t wait to get on the pitch.”
Who else is likely to play for AC Milan?
While Morata is perhaps the most decorated man in the current Milan squad, manager Paulo Fonseca can also call upon a number of other very good players.
Mike Maignan is one of Europe’s finest goalkeepers, while the likes of Theo Hernandez and Fikayo Tomori make up part of an experienced defence.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana is not a midfield to be sniffed at, while Christian Pulsic and Rafael Leao are capable of causing big problems up top.
Summer loan signing Tammy Abraham completes Milan’s English trio and the former Chelsea man is an interesting option should Morata start from the bench.
Whatever the role of the Spain captain, though, Liverpool need to make sure they throw in a bad memory for him alongside the good.
