Liverpool players have been no strangers to interest from Saudi Arabia in the last 12 months, with Alisson Becker one of the names courted by the Middle Eastern nation.

Alisson has this summer been linked with Saudi Arabia after the Brazilian international was rumoured with a move last year, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho both leaving Anfield to make the mega-money move to the Saudi Pro League.

With Mohamed Salah also strongly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, it might not be long before Liverpool see another star play pack their bags and swap Merseyside for the Middle East for an eye-watering amount of money.

And Alisson has now revealed what he thinks about recent interest in him from Saudi Arabia.

Alisson waves off Saudi Arabia interest and commits future to Liverpool

Speaking to the Times, the Liverpool no. 1 revealed that he has no interest in making the move to the Middle East just yet in his career, with Alisson sharing that he is happy at Anfield and wants to continue playing for the Reds.

Alisson said on interest from Saudi Arabia: “Yes, they had interest. I want to honour my contract and finish my contract here or make a new one. I am really happy here. My family is happy. I never got to the point where I was talking about wages and things like this. It was just interest, but when you hear about the numbers the other players are getting you are a little bit attracted. That is normal.

Everything to know on Liverpool’s Alisson Becker from his wife to net worth

“At the end of the day, you play football for love, it is the thing you like to do, but it is our profession and we want to use the years that we have to make the most of it. I think I am open to that personally but not now. Now is not the time. While I still have my contract here, I will be focused here. If it is in the interest of the club to negotiate [to sell] me, then it will be a different conversation.

“When the interest from Saudi came, I cannot close the door on a big deal [without thinking]. But my decision was always to stay and focus on the things we can achieve, this new beginning and this new start, and I am really excited about that. We are starting fresh with new energy and looking forward to what this season will bring for us.”

Alisson is making the right call staying loyal to Liverpool

Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has been a game-changer for Liverpool since moving to Anfield in 2018 from AS Roma, with the Brazilian key behind the Reds’ success in recent years.

And the 32-year-old is making the right call in deciding to stay loyal with Liverpool, with Alisson at the top of his game and in no position to leave Anfield just yet for the sake of a payday.

Indeed, Alisson making the move to Saudi Arabia could happen later down the line when the Liverpool star’s time is up on Merseyside, where interest will still be high in the goalkeeper.
