Liverpool have been relatively busy in the transfer window in terms of outgoings over recent days.
Although the Reds have been silent by way of incoming business, a few players have been shown the exit door.
For the most part, they have been fringe members of the Liverpool squad. All three of Fabio Carvalho, Bobby Clark and Sepp van den Berg were unlikely to get too many minutes under Arne Slot.
Nevertheless, there have also been some rumours that more established players could leave in the near future. Most significantly, this applies to the soon-to-be out of contract trio of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Now watching on from the outside, former manager Jurgen Klopp has given his thoughts on what could be about to happen with Van Dijk in particular.

Jurgen Klopp weighs in on Virgil van Dijk situation
While Liverpool supporters have been frustrated by a lack of action in the transfer market this summer, the ongoing issue regarding these three contracts continues to cause worry.
It would surely have been hoped inside Anfield that at least one of the new deals could have been sorted by now. Instead, all three will leave next summer as things stand.
Opinions will be split on which player is the most vital for Liverpool to retain beyond 2025. But there’s a good argument that Van Dijk could be that man.
There have been reports that Liverpool have identified two players who could replace Van Dijk. In reality, though, the 33-year-old is a one-of-a-kind player; irreplaceable.
Klopp knows that better than most. Van Dijk played 270 times for the German across six-and-a-half years and ended his reign as captain of the team.

And asked about Van Dijk and his current situation by ESPN this weekend, Klopp said that he’s sure the No.4 will make the right decision.
“Virgil is an unbelievable player, an unbelievable player. Unbelievable guy,” raves the 56-year-old.
“So, I miss them. I don’t miss the job, [but] I miss all the people there. But that’s completely fine, we can see each other whenever we want in the future.
“I have no idea what he, what they will do. It’s all their own decision,” Klopp adds. “They are grown-ups, they will do the right stuff and everything is fine. I know how much he loves Liverpool.”
Will Van Dijk sign a new contract?
The longer things go on without Van Dijk committing to a new contract at Liverpool, the more likely it feels that he will leave next summer.
This is especially galling given that the Dutchman is still absolutely vital to the team. Even at 33, Virgil is one of the first names on the teamsheet.
For Liverpool to lose his presence as a leader as well as a quality player would be absolutely enormous.
The situation is even more baffling as the feeling has always been said to be that Van Dijk wants to stay at Liverpool. If the centre-back wants to carry on, things should not be taking this long.
As Klopp says, Virgil loves Liverpool. For him to not be given an appropriate deal would feel like something tantamount to a crime from FSG at this point.
