Szoboszlai told to take on more responsibility for Liverpool

Speaking on ESPN FC, pundit Janusz Michallik highlighted how Szoboszlai needs to shoulder more responsibility for Liverpool in the midfielder despite playing well against Ipswich on Saturday.

The Hungarian international had a mixed first year at Liverpool after joining from RB Leipzig, and Szoboszlai is seemingly already under the spotlight to impress under Slot this season.

Michallik said: “I want to see his identity. It looks to me that so far, he’s almost like a complimentary player to Liverpool. And I think in that midfield, which is vital for any team, but for Liverpool in particular, I think he needs to take responsibility on his shoulder and to show us that he can decide matches.

“And of course today he was involved in the second goal very much, that through-ball, combination play with Mo Salah was very, very good.”

Szoboszlai knows he needs to step up this season

Szoboszlai arrived onto Merseyside last summer with plenty of hype after forming quite a reputation for himself during his years with Leipzig in the Bundesliga and beforehand with RB Salzburg.

And this season, the Hungarian international will want to prove that he can succeed in the Premier League after a somewhat underwhelming first year with Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp.

Indeed, Szoboszlai showed against Ipswich why can be such an outlet for Liverpool if used correctly, and Slot will want to get the best out of the midfielder in his second year in the Premier League.
