Liverpool fans are waiting patiently to see whether their club are going to make any new signings in the summer transfer window.
The Reds are currently the only Premier League team not to add to their squad since the end of the season.
While that may be cause for concern to some at Anfield, the Liverpool squad is one of the strongest in the country as it is.
Liverpool are also busy implementing a new system, which could see some players take on bigger roles more suited to their skillsets. They could improve as a result, bolstering the quality of the team.
Nevertheless, new additions are always welcome and do still look necessary for Arne Slot. Not least in midfield. And with that in mind, Liverpool’s move for Martin Zubimendi remains in standby.

Martin Zubimendi trains with Real Sociedad
Throughout the quiet period for Liverpool, there had been a promise that activity was coming. It had been claimed in some quarters that Liverpool could sign up to four players.
While it remains to be seen exactly how that pans out, there’s no getting away from the fact that the Reds are pushing to get Zubimendi wrapped up.
Things had started to move quickly on Wednesday, with reports coming from Spain that Real Sociedad were resigned to losing Zubimendi.
However, Thursday has been a quieter day, with no real concrete updates over whether the 25-year-old has decided to join Liverpool, or whether any fee has been agreed.

Part of the reason why things have turned a little subdued may have been because Zubimendi has been in training with La Real on Thursday.
The La Liga side have a friendly with Union Berlin on Friday and manager Imanol Alguacil put them through their paces ahead of that clash.
As seen in a post on Real Sociedad’s official X page, Zubimendi was one of the group getting ready for the fixture.
The Spain international laughed as he wandered into the session alongside fellow Euro 2024 winner Mikel Oyarzabal and could be seen doing fitness work as well as some activity with the ball.
Is Martin Zubimendi move now in jeopardy?
You’d have to say that this does not look great for Liverpool in terms of getting a deal wrapped up quickly.
All eyes will likely now be on the Txuri-Urdin’s game against Union on Friday to see whether Zubimendi is in the squad.
If he is, then it may not mean all that much anyway. However, it would certainly suggest that a move is not all that close to being completed.
If it were, it feels unlikely that either player or club would want to risk injury and put the deal in jeopardy. On the flip-side, perhaps Zubimendi just wants to wear the shirt of his boyhood club one more time before heading off to England.
Ultimately, it’s best not to read into it at all and simply wait for concrete updates, which will surely come soon either way.
