Liverpool have been in touch over signing one of European football’s ‘highest quality prospects’

Liverpool have shown that they are not afraid to bring young players into the football club.

The Reds are quickly becoming incredibly adept at identifying talents who could potentially have futures in the first-team.

As well as bringing through some top academy players of their own such as Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley, Liverpool have also shown a key eye for youngsters who could develop at Anfield.

That looks set to continue this summer. Liverpool are on the cusp of signing Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea and are also likely to buy Alvin Ayman from Wolves.

Beyond those two very young players though, the Reds are also seemingly targeting players from the age category above, too.

Liverpool in contact over Dean Huijsen

Liverpool already know how to find the best talent from around England. Ayman is only 16 while Ngumoha will turn the same age this Sunday.

With Brexit rules coming into place in 2021, the Reds have had to get to know the British market better. They can no longer sign players under the age of 18 from Europe.

Nevertheless, there’s no problem with them trying to pluck the very best 18 and 19-year-olds from across the continent.

Having missed out on perhaps the best young prospect in Europe right now in Leny Yoro, Liverpool look determined to put things right.

With Yoro now a Manchester United player, Italian outlet Tuttosport report that the Reds have ‘asked for information’ about Juventus centre-back Dean Huijsen.

Liverpool are far from alone in their interest in Huijsen, though. With the 19-year-old said to be ‘on the way out’ of Juve, a whole clutch of teams have reportedly been in touch with the Serie A giants.

Five Bundesliga teams as well as Newcastle and PSG are claimed to be hot on Huijsen’s tail.

However, despite all of these clubs seemingly showing an interest, it’s claimed that none have yet followed up. ‘No one has gone so far’ as to discuss Juve’s asking price which reportedly stands at around £25m.

Dean Huijsen is one of Europe’s brightest talents

It was hugely disappointing for Liverpool to lose out on Yoro the way that they did. The 18-year-old will surely flourish in Manchester.

Nevertheless, Liverpool had their reasons for not signing Yoro and they’ll stand by the decision they made.

Perhaps part of that call was the knowledge that Huijsen is also on the market. During his time on-loan at Roma last season, then manager Jose Mourinho lauded the talent of the Spain U21 international.

“We all know who he is. He is an 18-year-old boy who has played 10 minutes in Serie A, but he is one of the highest quality prospects in European football at this age level,” Mourinho said via The Chronicle. “He will be a great footballer in the future.”

With that review in mind, £25m does not sound like bad business at all. Let’s see if Liverpool take this any further.
