Liverpool will know in the next nine days whether they are signing ‘incredible’ £38m player

Liverpool’s movements in the transfer market are proving intensely difficult to predict.

The Reds had perhaps been expected to do some business in the early part of the window, but have so far refrained from doing so.

Wednesday saw one of the few players to have had concrete links with Liverpool, Leny Yoro, move to the verge of tying up a transfer to Manchester United.

Liverpool had their reasons for not signing Yoro, but it does beg the question of exactly what is going on at Anfield this summer.

With supporters perhaps getting angsty ahead of Liverpool’s tour to the USA, it sounds as though we could finally be about to see something happen.

Liverpool close to learning Rayan Ait Nouri verdict

Liverpool have been hard at it at the AXA Training Centre over the past two weeks. Despite Arne Slot missing so many of his first-team squad, pre-season is well underway.

Things will be kicked up several notches when the Reds fly out to the US next Tuesday, with three games in the calendar.

Fans greeting the team across the Atlantic may be disappointed, though. It has been reported that as many as nine players will likely miss Liverpool’s tour to the USA as they return late from their holidays.

With two international tournaments played this summer, supporters will likely have accepted that this would be the case already.

But in lieu of seeing some of their favourite Reds, they may have at least expected to be able to run the rule over a new signing or two. So far, that looks like it won’t be happening either.

According to Caught Offside, though, there is still a chance. They claim that Liverpool will know by the time they play Real Betis on Saturday, July 27th whether they are signing Rayan Ait Nouri from Wolves.

Ait Nouri is reportedly open to leaving Wolves this summer and is being courted by Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City. Wolves are said to have set the 23-year-old’s price at around £38m.

Liverpool are claimed to be fully aware of Wolves’ demands having met with the Midlands club to ‘understand all of the conditions required’. Both Chelsea and City have reportedly done exactly the same. No move has supposedly been made so far.

Rayan Ait Nouri ‘definitely’ of interest to Liverpool

By now it seems likely that Liverpool are only going to add one or two players – if any at all – to Slot’s squad this summer.

If that is the case, then we’re not sure that a new left-back is necessarily a priority.

Nevertheless, journalist David Lynch claimed earlier in July that Liverpool ‘definitely’ like Ait Nouri. The Algerian seems to be a long-term target.

As a result, if the Reds are aware of the price of the deal and are keen to get the player onboard, then before the US tour would seem like a good time to do it.

Things can move quickly with transfers once they get in motion. But if Liverpool want Ait Nouri before the game against Betis, then we’d suggest they get on the phone to Wolves as soon as they can.
