Liverpool are finalising their plans for who to bring into the squad that Jurgen Klopp left behind.
Klopp left the Reds in really good shape overall, with more than enough for Arne Slot to work with.
However, there are a number of areas which Liverpool could readily upgrade upon. One of those is in attack, where the Reds are still yet to fully move on from the legendary trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Salah is the only one of those three players still plying his trade at Anfield. But regardless of whether he leaves for Saudi Arabia this summer, age is catching up to Mo a little. He’s going to need replacing sooner rather than later.
As one of the best players in Liverpool history, that isn’t going to be easy to do. But the Reds have seemingly identified, and are readying a bid, for a player who has been tipped to surpass Salah’s brilliance.

Liverpool readying Mohammed Kudus bid
There is no easy way to replace what Salah gives Liverpool. Ever since he joined the club in 2017 the Egyptian has been banging in the goals.
Thankfully, it looks a safe bet that Mo is sticking around for Slot’s first season in charge. With his contract up in 2025 though, it’s hard to see Salah staying beyond next year.
As a result, efforts are seemingly being ramped up to have a succession plan in place.
And according to Football Transfers, Liverpool have radared in on West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus as being a possible replacement for Salah.
They claim that Liverpool are expected to sign a winger regardless of whether Salah stays or goes this summer. In that spirit, Kudus is reportedly being ‘seriously considered.’
The 23-year-old is said to have an £85m release clause in his contract, which will become active in summer of 2025. However, Liverpool are supposedly ‘set to make an attempt’ to buy Kudus for lower than this fee.
It’s claimed that a smaller amount could be considered by West Ham as a result of Lucas Paqueta’s potential ban. The Hammers are said to have been ready to sell Paqueta for a big fee, but the likelihood of an FA ban for the Brazilian reportedly means Kudus could be the player now sold.
Mohammed Kudus tipped for superstardom
Not only is Kudus a very good player who’s had an excellent season with West Ham, he’s also been directly compared with Mohamed Salah before.
It was Kudus’ former coach with the Right To Dream academy who predicted that the Ghanaian will become even better than Salah.
“Give it two years, Kudus will be the best African player,” coach Jeremy Seethal said in January.
“I’m confident one day he will win the Ballon d’Or. Everyone has seen his growth. Now he’s shining at the highest level. He’s a superstar.”
If that turns out to be true, then someone at Liverpool might owe Seethal a thank you. Should Liverpool replace Salah with the ‘next Salah,’ it will be a huge slice of good fortune.
Let’s see if this develops into something.
