Liverpool are getting their ducks in a row in order to find Jurgen Klopp’s successor at the club.
Ever since Klopp announced his intention to leave Anfield in January, it has been all hands to the pump for Liverpool.
Initially, Xabi Alonso had looked like the clear favourite to return to the club he made his name at. However, with question marks over his experience for the role, Alonso opted to stay at Bayer Leverkusen.
That has opened the door to a number of other candidates, with as many as five reportedly being considered by the Reds.
After the very public rejection they suffered from Alonso, Liverpool need to make sure that their next choice is ready to join before they commit to him. And according to reports in France, there’s one coach who is extra keen on making the move to Anfield.

Liverpool open talks with ‘tremendous’ manager
With Alonso no longer being considered, the main front-runners for Liverpool appear to be Sporting’s Ruben Amorim and Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton.
There’s little question that those two managers are tactically astute and would both bring something to the job with the Reds.
However, with De Zerbi’s stock at Anfield reportedly dropping a little, it’s Amorim who has emerged as the most likely candidate.
And that’s exactly the news reinforced from French outlet Foot Mercato. They claim that FSG’s moves to hire the 39-year-old were ‘stepped up’ on Monday.
Liverpool are said to have put a three-year contract on the table for Amorim, with talks between club and prospective manager ‘going well.’ From Amorim’s part, he is said to be ‘determined’ to land the job. Is anyone else still in the running
Over the weekend Amorim has seemingly moved ahead of any competition he had to be Liverpool’s next manager.
Having seen his Sporting team beat Benfica in a likely title-decider on Saturday, talks now look set to accelerate between the Portuguese and the Reds.
Although there are still names like Thiago Motta flying about, there doesn’t feel to be anything particularly substantial in those rumours.
As a result, we’d now suggest that unless these talks hit a snag, Amorim is now very likely to be the man in the Anfield dugout next season. He wants it and that’s important. Exciting times ahead.
