Chris Sutton thinks Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool’s players will all have had words with 24-year-old

At this moment in time it’s difficult to not like Darwin Nunez as a Liverpool fan. The Uruguayan is in the form of his life making key contributions week in week out. From scoring that 99th minute winner against Nottingham Forest, to two absolutely brilliant strikes against Sparta Prague. Then he won that all important penalty against Manchester City.

To say that he has been Liverpool’s most important player recently would be an understatement. The only other player who can even probably compare right now is Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentine has been equally in providing those crucial moments and points on the board for Liverpool.

Yet for some reason, such is the nature of life, you cannot please everyone. That’s the same with Nunez. Even in his current form, not everyone is quite convinced by him 100%. Among them is Chris Sutton, who has claimed that Jurgen Klopp and his teammates will all have had a word with Nunez about something important in the aftermath of the City game.

Speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off! podcast, Chris Sutton explained why he thinks there are still areas of his game that Darwin Nunez needs to improve in. Including one that he thinks his teammates and Jurgen Klopp will be having a word about with him.

“I suspect it’s something which Jurgen Klopp will have had a word with him about, his teammates will have had a word with him about and he just needs to switch on,” Sutton said.

“What he is, you have described him as the most watchable player in the Premier League, I’m not going to disagree with you in that respect. He is all action but he just needs to slow down at times. Everything is 100mph with him, which is great to watch, but that’s why you can criticise his finishing, that is rushed, he doesn’t compose himself and it’s the same with his runs in behind.”

We are not sure if this is necessarily an issue. Nunez’s being full throttle actually creates so much chaos on the pitch and opens up spaces for his teammates. His all action ability is what creates chances and is what gives him an advantage over his opponents.
