‘Everything is good’… Jurgen Klopp says 31-year-old Liverpool player is now completely fit to play

Liverpool are slowly starting to see their injury troubles ease as the season enters its final two months.

Still fighting on three fronts, the Reds have put themselves in a good position entering the campaign’s final straight. Those coming back can now supplement a squad in fine shape.

One of the players most missed over recent months has been talisman Mohamed Salah. Usually such a reliable presence fitness wise, Salah has barely played for Liverpool over the past two months or so.

That continued when the Egyptian was only fit enough to be named on the bench for Sunday’s huge game against Manchester City. But after he entered the pitch as a second-half substitute, Jurgen Klopp has today confirmed in his pre-Sparta Prague press conference that Salah is now ‘ready’ to play more.

“It would have possible playing longer last game [vs Man City], but in the game how it is changing at half time was not necessary or possible,” Klopp explained.

“We have to deal with changes pretty carefully. Yeah, he’s ready, not for 90 minutes but he’s fit. Everything is good now, we don’t have to deal with these kinds of things anymore.”

Salah ready for action

Although Salah is seemingly ready to be almost back to his old, relentless self, we don’t think that will start against Sparta tomorrow.

With Liverpool 5-1 up from the first-leg, it would be a major surprise to see Mo on the teamsheet.

In one sense though, perhaps there would be some logic to playing him. With the tie already virtually won, it would be a good run-out for Salah, who could play an hour and then come off, for example.

Getting some more minutes in his legs before Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford would perhaps be a better way to build up the 31-year-old’s fitness again.

With Sparta also badly needing to attack Liverpool in order to stand any chance of progression, the game could open up for the Reds.

Being the player and man that he is, Salah may see the opportunity to score a first goal for Liverpool since February 17th.

He should have had one in the first-leg but it was bizarrely ruled out for offside. Finding that scoring feeling before heading to one of his favourite Premier League grounds could be just the ticket.

This is a big-ish decision for Klopp on what should hopefully be a routine night. Still, whatever he decides, it’s just great having Mo back and in proper contention again.
