It was the perfect start for Liverpool in Prague. On a cold and blistery March evening, just a few minutes into the game Alexis Mac Allister broke into the penalty area and won a penalty for Liverpool.

The Argentine who is in great form at the moment then went onto convert from the penalty spot himself. Putting the ball comfortably into the back of the net. It was just his third goal in a Liverpool shirt. But it was his fifth goal contribution for Liverpool in his last six games.

Later he added an assist to his tally, meaning he has made six goal contributions in six games now. . He had just three in his previous 26 matches before that. It just goes to show how good he has been recently.

But just before that penalty, Darwin Nunez looked quite keen to potentially steal Mac Allister’s thunder or offer him advice. We cannot be the judge.

Darwin Nunez’s reaction before Mac Allister’s penalty

It was Mac Allister who won the penalty for Liverpool tonight. However, Darwin Nunez looked eager to take the penalty himself. Rousing the Kop was at the scene in Prague and saw what went down between the two players.

Before Mac Allister lined-up to take it, Nunez had a long conversation with the Reds’ midfielder. It seemed to be a friendly conversation with the two South American players arm in arm. What they were speaking about we couldn’t really tell.

Nunez did look keen to take the penalty himself. He even had the ball in his hand at one point. But in the end whatever was said, it was decided that Mac Allister would get the chance to take the spot kick.

He is of course very versed in taking penalties having been a regular taker at Brighton while he was at the Seagulls. Meanwhile Darwin Nunez has taken two penalties for Liverpool. He scored one against LASK in the Europa League but missed the other one against Chelsea in the Premier League back in January.
