Who is now in charge of Liverpool’s transfer plans with Jurgen Klopp set to depart

There is a common misconception among fans that just because Liverpool do not currently have a sporting director, nor a new manager, there are no decisions being made on the transfers front. The reality however is different.

In truth, Liverpool’s recruitment team isn’t only made-up of the manager and the sporting director. The most crucial roles are the ones occupied by the club’s scouts and data analysts. They are the ones in charge of identifying potential players in the first place, and then compiling a list of targets. All of that is before the manager or the sporting director has their say.

So the fact that some are imagining the recruitment team at Liverpool sitting idle right now is just a fantasy. The club’s important personnel will be hard at work, identifying and drawing up a plan for the summer transfer window.

That is what the latest reports seem to suggest as well. Reportedly, there are two people currently in charge of the club’s transfer plans.

Who is in charge of Liverpool’s transfer plans

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the club’s head of recruitment, Dave Fallows, and the chief scout, Barry Hunter, are in charge of transfer plans at Anfield. The report states that the pair are already finalising transfer plans ahead of the summer transfer window.

It’s not really a surprise to see Hunter and Fallows in charge. Both of them have an impressive resume and have worked at Liverpool for many years. They are experts as scouts, and have a lot of experience. There were reports last year that they played a key role in the recruitment of Ryan Gravenberch. They are also used to closely working with data analysts to use analytics as a tool for their scouting as well.

All that is to say, there should be no fears among Liverpool supporters. While Fallows and Hunter are in charge, there is nothing to worry about. The two of them will do everything in their power to set-up the perfect environment for the club’s new sporting director and manager to come in to.
