Amid the excitement of recent days, it’s hard not to get carried away as a Liverpool fan. This has been one of the most special weeks in Jurgen Klopp’s era. Filled with last-minute winners. From the euphoria of beating Chelsea at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final to the sheer delight of getting the better over Nottingham Forest with a strike in the 99th minute. The last week has been a cascade of emotions and an exhilarating roller coaster for the club’s supporters.

It also stands as a testament to Liverpool’s fortitude to endure even in difficult moments. Liverpool had to overcome having several key figures absent from Jurgen Klopp’s squad. But despite that hurdle, the Reds emerged unscathed in all the challenges thrown at them. Meaning they are still very much in contention to complete an unprecedented quadruple.

Yesterday’s game against Forest epitomised everything exciting about Liverpool in the past week. Liverpool were on the verge of a stalemate at the City Ground. A draw would have been perilous and a significant blow to Liverpool’s aspirations in the Premier League title race. But this Liverpool team never even considered that possibility. This is a team who very much fights until the very end and has indomitable spirit. And that’s exactly what they did, snatching a victory thanks to a brilliant Darwin Nunez header in the dying embers of the game.

John Aldridge on the three Liverpool players who made the difference vs Nottingham Forest

According to John Aldridge, who was speaking on LFCTV, there were three players in particular who made the difference for Liverpool. The former Liverpool defender named three substitutes, who all made an important impact in the game.

“Even young Danns when he come on, he made an impact,” Aldridge said. “Obviously being able to bring on the players we did, Núñez comes on and scored the winner. Szoboszlai gets involved a lot with the game. Danns again was an effect. So that probably turned it slightly in our favour to go ahead and get that win.”

Aldridge is right, the substitutes were important. Nunez obviously got the goal, but Szoboszlai was very lively as well when he came on. Meanwhile Jayden Danns was a real nuisance during the few minutes he spent on the pitch as well.
