Lewis Koumas’ brother has sent a message to the Liverpool starlet on Twitter after watching the 18-year-old forward last night against Southampton.
The Reds’ academy graduate was named in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI to face the Saints as Koumas repaid the favour in a huge way by scoring on his professional Liverpool debut.
With fellow academy star Jayden Danns adding two more goals in the second-half, it was another magical night for Liverpool’s youth system just a few days after the Reds won the League Cup having played five academy players.

And taking to Twitter, Koumas’ brother, Josh, couldn’t help but get emotional over seeing the Liverpool youngster make his debit at Anfield as well as score on the night in an impressive win against Southampton.
Indeed, the past few days have been some of the best for Liverpool’s academy, with the Reds having to rely on youth players amid an ongoing injury crisis that has kept some big names out of action.
Yet with the likes of Koumas and Danns impressing in the senior, team, the Anfield side have seemingly stumbled upon the next generation of first-team players at Liverpool.
And with Nottingham Forest coming up shortly for the Reds, there’s a good chance that Koumas can again feature for Liverpool, especially after scoring against one of the Championship big-guns in Southampton.
Southampton performance showed Jurgen Klopp is right to trust youth

With a total of eight academy players featuring last night for the Reds, it’s safe to say that Liverpool and Klopp have got it right in how to deal with their injury crisis.
Koumas and Danns created history whilst Trey Nyoni became the youngest Liverpool player to ever feature in an FA Cup match, a record Klopp has broken yet again under his watch.
And whilst senior players soon returning is a massive boost, it’s quite incredible just how Liverpool have managed to overcome this latest injury crisis with their youth, who truly look like the next generation of the Reds.
