We are still getting used to Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool for pastures new at the end of the season. Klopp has made his reasons clear, and they are perfectly understandable. However, it will feel strange not having him at Liverpool.
Over almost a decade, Klopp’s name has become synonymous with the club. He has given Liverpool its identity again, and transformed the entire fortunes of the club. For years prior, Liverpool had been destined to languish in mediocrity. But Klopp changed all of that and he turned the Reds from doubters to believers.
That was on show on Sunday night. Probably more acutely than ever before. Liverpool headed into the game at Wembley as the major underdog. On paper, they were the better team. However, with so many key players missing and Chelsea pretty much having their best players available, the Blues had to be considered the favourites.
Yet, despite that, Liverpool overcame the odds. Klopp’s young academy stars pulled through. They delivered a moment that they will remember for the rest of their lives. And us Liverpool fans will, too.

Jurgen Klopp’s plans during his break
Speaking to Hungarian TV channel Arena4, Klopp was asked about Hungary and Dominik Szoboszlai after Liverpool’s victory over Chelsea on Sunday night. The German unsurprisingly declared that he was a big fan of Szoboszlai, while also revealing that he plans to Szoboszlai’s homeland during his hiatus after he leaves Liverpool.
“It is certain that I am also a Szoboszlai fan,” Klopp said via a translator.
“I know that Hungary is a great country and I haven’t been there enough. Budapest is definitely among my next destinations during my upcoming break, and Dominik will tell me where I should visit.”
It’s nice to see Klopp already looking forward to sitting back and relaxing. He is well due a break, especially after all the hard work he has put in this season. Klopp deserves to go and relax. But first he deserves to end his final campaign at Liverpool on a high.
