Liverpool’s recruitment team have an excellent eye for spotting talent. Over the last few years the club has been exemplary at finding players just before they’re about to explode. From Mohamed Salah to Sadio Mane – the club has always found that sweet spot.
Another area where Liverpool’s recruitment team has been excellent recently is in the domestic market. The club’s scouts have put in a lot of great work in order to attract and find the best domestic young talents in the game.
This has seen Liverpool bring in players like Kaide Gordon, Bobby Clark, Ben Doak, Trey Nyoni, Harvey Elliott and many others as well. All of whom are either on the periphery of the first team or are nearing that stage in their development already.
Another young talent though, who Liverpool reportedly held talks with last summer didn’t end-up signing for the club. And now he is doing really well in the Championship.

Jaden Philogene was on Liverpool’s transfer radar
According to the Anfield Watch, Liverpool held talks with Jaden Philogene’s representatives last summer. After an impressive season on-loan at Cardiff City from Aston Villa and then a strong pre-season with Unai Emery’s side – it was easy to see why. However, in the end Philogene ended-up moving to Hull City instead – where he has absolutely flourished into one of the most exciting players in the Championship.
And he demonstrated that last night with an outrageous rabona moment which ended-up turning into a crucial equaliser for Hull. You can watch the goal below.
Philogene now has 13 goal contributions in 17 games already this season. He’s also got three goal contributions in three games for England’s U21 side. So exciting to watch, his manager Liam Rosenior has previously described him as a magnificent talent.
“I want to work with young players because I feel I can help develop and improve them and Jaden’s been magnificent. The scary thing and exciting thing is that he’s got so much more improving to do,” Rosenior said as per the Hull Daily Mail.
With more performances like that Philogene could easily end-up on Liverpool’s transfer radar again. He’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.
