Virgil van Dijk has just made promise to Liverpool fans on Instagram after defeat to Arsenal yesterday

Virgil van Dijk had an evening to forget against Arsenal at the weekend. Nothing seemed to go right for the Liverpool captain. Nor Liverpool for that matter on the night.

Van Dijk was also involved in a calamitous mishap between him and Alisson Becker, which ultimately allowed Gabriel Martinelli to score and take the lead for Arsenal. It was a horrendous error, and completely out of character. Something neither Van Dijk nor Becker would make probably even once out of a hundred.

But on the night the error was made and Van Dijk received a lot of backlash for his involvement in the mistake. Including by Jamie Carragher, who criticised him for the way he used his body. Meanwhile, Richard Keys made an even more damning statement about the Liverpool captain.

Virgil van Dijk’s message

All of that is just unnecessary talk. Van Dijk has to drown out the noise, and concentrate on the task ahead. Which is exactly what his message to the club’s supporters has entailed on Monday afternoon.

Taking to his Instagram, Van Dijk sent the following message in a post:

“We 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 bounce back!! See you saturday.”

Those are exactly the words Liverpool fans needed to hear today. Van Dijk is definitely leading this team with a great example. Now it’s just up to what the Reds do against Burnley next weekend.

Jurgen Klopp’s team have an entire week to reflect, digest, recover and learn from what went wrong against Arsenal. The Premier League title is still very much in Liverpool’s hands. Win the next 15 games of the season, and they will be champions.

Even Arsenal cannot say that. No matter their victory over Liverpool, they are still two points behind the Reds in the table, and rely on other results going in their favour.
