‘I’m sorry to say that’… Jurgen Klopp makes very honest admission after Liverpool lose to Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp will be the most disappointed by Liverpool’s result against Arsenal last night. Especially as it was a result no one saw coming. The Reds had been in good form, and while it’s always difficult to go to the Emirates, there were reasons to be cautiously optimistic.

In the end, none of that really mattered. Liverpool were forced into changes in the last minute. Dominik Szoboszlai and Darwin Nunez were missing from the starting XI or the squad entirely due to injuries.

Conor Bradley too would have been a shoe in starter for this game – but the heartbreaking passing away his father meant he too couldn’t be involved. Everyone at RTK sends our best wishes to Bradley at this really difficult time.

The reality is with so many in form players missing, Klopp’s side were always going to struggle to get their momentum going. It definitely reflected on the pitch. Liverpool simply couldn’t create any chances. And rightfully lost the game – the defeat now means the Reds are in a vulnerable position in the title race.

Jurgen Klopp on the Premier League title race

Liverpool are still top of the league. So they’re definitely not out of the title race. However, now Manchester City can go top if they win their games in hand. Which definitely makes things a little bit more uncertain for Klopp and his players.

Speaking after the game in his press conference, Klopp made a very honest admission about how he was feeling.

“Look, if you want to find a specialist who becomes champion in England then I am probably not the right person to ask because most of the time we finished second,” Klopp said as per the club’s official website.

“So I’m sorry to say that. You have to win football games, I know that, and as many as you can. This today would have been a great one. But, how I said, if you can only become champions and we don’t lose any game, that makes life really tricky. Since the final whistle I didn’t think a second about the amount of games of Manchester City and who they will play and how they will play. Not for a second. We have to play to our potential. We have to deal with difficulties in the game, around the games and play our soul on the pitch, if you want, and then we will see where it ends up. But there is no guarantee for nothing.”

We absolutely and fully believe this was just a little blip on the road for Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s men will be back better than ever. Starting with Burnley this weekend.
