Gabriel Agbonlahor predicts what’s about to happen at Liverpool this season

Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season continues to provoke discussion around the football world.

Klopp shocked everyone yesterday by announcing his intention to leave the Reds after more than eight years.

It comes amid what has so far been a superb season for Liverpool. With the team pushing hard across all four competitions, it remains to be seen how the manager going public on this will affect performances.

Speaking to TalkSPORT today though, pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor claimed that the prospect of Klopp leaving could actually drive Liverpool on to greatness.

“They could win the treble this season, the quadruple,” said the former England striker. “It wouldn’t surprise me if they go out now and try even harder for Klopp, to win more trophies before he leaves.”

Liverpool set for last dance

This will be in the mind of every single Liverpool fan right now. We only have a finite number of matches left under Jurgen, let’s make the most out of it.

Thankfully, the Reds have got themselves into a position where they truly can do that.

Klopp was keen to stress the importance of focusing on the job at hand yesterday, and there remains a heck of a job to do. Liverpool could indeed yet win a quadruple.

The first next test of that comes tomorrow. With Jurgen’s mate David Wagner taking his Norwich City side to Anfield, it promises to be an emotional occasion.

Get through that, then Liverpool have a huge week ahead of them in the Premier League.

First, Chelsea visit Anfield on Wednesday before a trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal follows at the weekend. By the end of those three games, we’ll know much more about Liverpool’s status as potential champions.

From our point of view, talk of trophies is a little too premature. There’s still a long way to go in all of them, with Chelsea standing in the way in the Carabao Cup, too.

For now, let’s just enjoy what’s left of Klopp’s time here without putting too much pressure on it.

A glorious, trophy laden ending would be fantastic and exactly the way Jurgen deserve to go out. But if Liverpool end the season empty handed, it wouldn’t take anything away from his tenure either. Big months ahead.
