Last night Liverpool qualified for the League Cup final once again under Jurgen Klopp. It’s a trophy the Reds boss has already won before in his career. But it’s an opportunity to do what Klopp has never yet done at Liverpool – win a trophy twice.

Klopp has won it all, but he’s never won the same trophy twice. The League Cup final is an opportunity for the Liverpool boss to do that for the first time. And he’s got a good recent record against the foes, who await him in the final.

Liverpool have beaten both Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino in finals over the last few years. And given the form Liverpool are in at the moment – they’ve got a good chance to do that again. There’s still a month to go until the final, but according to one Sky Sports pundit, Klopp has an obvious choice to make in his front three.

Liverpool front three in the final

Speaking after Liverpool’s victory over Fulham last night, Steve Sidwell revealed on Sky Sports that he thinks the front three should be as follows in the League Cup final.

Mo Salah is a given. I think you go Salah, Nunez and then Diaz has played himself in there as well. Gakpo is getting there with every game but, it was the first three.”

We have to agree with Sidwell, that’s the line-up that makes the most sense at the moment. Although, it would be cruel on Diogo Jota, who has been in sensational form, and just keeps producing the goods. But in all fairness to him, he is capable of making really good impact from the bench. And he could just be Klopp’s big trump card to wield in the final – if things go awry.

One thing for sure, it promises to be an exciting encounter. We are already counting the days until Wembley.
