Consistency is one of the most important parts of football. It’s easy to play one good game. It’s easy to score one good goal. Any half-decent footballer can do that. But to do it game after game, season after season is extremely rare.
That’s why the best players like Mohamed Salah are held in such high esteem. They can simply deliver game after game. And not just deliver, but produce key moments that make the difference for teams like Liverpool. Moments that secure trophies, and create special memories for the club’s supporters.
One player who will be desperate to follow in Mohamed Salah’s footsteps is Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan is just simply so entertaining to watch. However, he can be hit and miss. He’ll have really strong periods, and then go on a bout of a few games when nothing seems to click. Now former Liverpool midfielder, Didi Hamann has said that needs to change.

Didi Hamann on Darwin Nunez
Speaking to talkSPORT, Hamann said that Nunez was a brilliant player, but that at times he needed to be more consistent for Liverpool.
“Well I think you always have phases during a season where one player is doing better than the other but Luis Diaz has been rather quiet obviously had personal issues as well with his family in the first half of the season, he’s coming back now.
“Nunez I just think he’s too good not to score but I remember he scored in the first half of the season two goals away to Newcastle and everybody thought here we go now, he gets 25, 30 goals this season.
“But then he had a barren spell for 10 games. He got those goals against Bournemouth the other day, hopefully he comes into goalscoring form on a consistent basis.”
Hamann is probably right here. It would be great if Nunez could start to score on a consistent basis. Liverpool will soon need to replace Salah, and the 24-year-old could be the perfect candidate to take over as the King of the Kop – if he just started scoring more often.
