Liverpool are spoilt in attack at the moment. One of the big reasons why the Reds haven’t even felt the absence of Mohamed Salah yet is because of the amount of options at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal.

From Diogo Jota to Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo – Liverpool’s attackers just keep scoring goals. And most importantly, keeping Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table. The Reds are once again on course to win the Premier League, and are fighting on all fronts.

That is largely in thanks to the club’s attackers. One of them has particularly endeared himself to Liverpool supporters lately in Darwin Nunez. Whether he scores or not, he is constantly putting in 100% and is quickly becoming a fan favourite.

Phil Thompson praise for Darwin Nunez

Speaking on talkSPORT, former Liverpool defender and manager, Phil Thompson has been giving out special praise to Darwin Nunez. Thompson described the Uruguayan forward as someone who the club’s supporters absolutely love. For one major reason.

“The great thing about Darwin, which is what fans love, is that he never gives up. He always has a go. Yes, he’s got his failings, but the Liverpool fans absolutely love him for what he gives. And he doesn’t stop trying and I know where you’re coming from, he’s just got to be a little-bit cuter with his finishing and didn’t we see that in the Bournemouth game,” Thompson said.

Thompson then went onto compare Nunez to Thierry Henry.

“The great move comes, little bit dare I say it Thierry Henry like and he just glides it past the goalkeeper into the far corner. And the second one that he scores is even better. Cross from Joe Gomez, reaching out for it, just delicately with the outside of his right foot on a stretch and puts it in the corner. Hopefully, listen I’ve not seen him in training but you would like to think that’s what he’ll be finishing when he’s going through, a little bit of a dink over somebody rather than just keep on putting his foot through the ball.”

It’s an interesting comment from the former Liverpool man. Nunez is a special talent, and he is definitely proving it at the moment.
