Many at Liverpool are dreaming of Kylian Mbappe. The possibility of bringing him to the club is slim. However, there is no doubt he would be the perfect long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Both are regarded in the highest esteem in world football. Both are capable of creating moments out of nowhere, and have proven it at the highest level. Mbappe is just entering his prime as well – and a move to Liverpool would come at the perfect time.
Although at this stage it’s a deal we cannot quite see Liverpool being able to pull off. Nonetheless, it is interesting to see that Mbappe and Salah have a lot more in common – including a trademark finish.

Mohamed Salah has Kylian Mbappe trademark
The Athletic today released an article analysing near-post finishes. This is something that Kylian Mbappe has made his trademark according to the report. However, in the Premier League it is Mohamed Salah who leads the list.
According to The Athletic, since the 2018/19 season, Salah has scored the most near-post finishes in the Premier League by far. The Liverpool winger has scored 16 in that time, which is six more than second place Harry Kane on 10.
This latest analysis is no surprise. Liverpool fans will have noticed that Salah quite likes to cut into the box and then use his left foot to find the near-post. He’s scored quite a few sensational goals like that over the years.
But it’s yet more a reminder of just what a special finisher the Egyptian really he is. Salah is simply ruthless in front of goal, and has all sorts of finishes in his locker. Which makes it impossible for opponents to figure him out.
