Many of Liverpool’s players were enjoying a break last weekend. With the Reds being given a week off – a lot of them took the opportunity to travel abroad.

As we reported, among them was Luis Diaz, who returned to Porto to watch his former team in action.

Porto was the club where it all began for Diaz in European football. It’s also a club that Liverpool scouts regularly follow and keep an eye on. In the past, current Liverpool coaches like Pep Lijnders and Vitor Matos also worked at Porto.

And as the weekend, as Diaz watched his former side in action he will have seen another player who could be ideal to follow him to Anfield.

Evanilson – the next Luis Diaz?

Brazilian Evanilson has been on Liverpool’s radar for years. He was followed while he was at Fluminense, and at Porto as well.

Now Evanilson is in the form of his life, and netted once again in front of Luis Diaz at the weekend. That means he has now made 20 goal contributions in just 22 games for Porto this season.

An excellent all-round forward, Evanilson has great technique, he’s relatively quick and he’s very good at finding space inside the box. Still only 24-years-old, he’s yet to hit his prime, yet already he’s performing at a really high level for Porto.

This season the Brazilian has averaged an incredible goal or assist every 67 minutes in all competitions. That’s incredible more prolific than Mohamed Salah, who has averaged a goal or assist every 76 minutes for Liverpool.

Having been on Liverpool’s radar in the past – if Evanilson continues in this form he is sure to attract the attention of the club’s scouts again.
