Liverpool are unlikely to make a signing in the January transfer window. However, one area where the club could strengthen, and is actively looking at options, is the holding midfield department.
Even though Wataru Endo has been really impressive for Liverpool recently – he is not a long-term option. Having lost Fabinho in the summer, Liverpool need a proper future successor to the Brazilian’s throne.
Who that could end-up being remains to be seen. There is no doubt the club has plenty of players on its shortlist at the moment.
One of those could be Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup according the Liverpool ECHO. Meanwhile, GivemeSport has reported today that Tottenham have also joined the race for the 22-year-old signature. However, Liverpool might just have an advantage in the race to sign him.

Morten Frendrup on Liverpool dream
Recently, the Serie A’s official YouTube channel released a profile on Frendrup titled ‘the best ball-winner in Serie A.’ In that video, Frendrup shared a picture of himself with a Fernando Torres poster in his room.
While in that video Frendrup doesn’t address the picture of Torres, if we look back to the past in an interview back in 2018 with Sjællandske Nyheder he did talk about his love for Liverpool, and his dream to one day play for the club.
“It’s a dream [playing for Liverpool] I’ve always had, and I believe it will succeed. If I work hard, I believe in it,’ said a 16-year-old Frendrup at the time.
Six years is a long time, but it’s clear the Danish international has a special spot in his heart for Liverpool. So, if there is a race for his signature, then the Reds will be clear frontrunners.
