Joshua Kimmich is reportedly open to joining Manchester City this year despite Liverpool being linked with the Bayern Munich star.

The Germany international has been rumoured with a move away from the German giants in recent weeks, with Liverpool reportedly interested in signing Kimmich.

And the midfielder could be on his way out of Bayern, with Kimmich’s contract currently set to expire in 2025, a factor that could make the 28-year-old available for as little as £25m.

However, according to the Daily Star, Kimmich is eager to join Pep Guardiola’s City rather than Liverpool, with Manchester United also interested in the Bayern star.

Lauded by Julian Nagelsmann as a ‘world-class’ player, Kimmich joining City would be quite the move from the reigning Premier League champions given just how good the midfielder is.

And for Liverpool, seeing a top player like Kimmich join a rival club in City will be a disastrous event, with the Reds fully aware of how useful the Bayern man could be under Jurgen Klopp.

With Thiago Alcantara set to leave Liverpool this summer, a world-class midfielder who has been there and done it at the highest level could be a real asset for the Reds next season.

And Kimmich fits the bill perfectly, with the Bayern star one of the best on the planet and a player who seems keen to make the move to England at the end of this campaign.

However, with City now the favourites for the German international, Liverpool must be doing all they can to beat their Premier League rivals for Kimmich’s signature, a process that could be a hard one for the Reds.
