Alan Shearer has lauded Curtis Jones’ development this season at Liverpool having become a regular for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The 22-year-old midfielder came leaps and bounds in 2023 as Jones found a real place for himself in the Liverpool senior squad as well as enjoying a brilliant year for club and country.

Jones was key to England’s U-21 triumph last summer in the U-21 Euros, and the youngster has this season taken his game to new levels with Liverpool, where he has fully gained Jurgen Klopp’s trust.

And speaking on Match of the Day, Shearer was full of praise for Jones, with the BBC Sport pundit praising the midfielder for his recent development.

Indeed, Jones has proved himself to be one of Klopp’s most reliable options in the Liverpool midfield, and Shearer is now also a fan of the England youth international.

The pundit said: “It’s about feeling part of the first-team, feeling as if you belong in there. It doesn’t happen overnight, it might take some time, but he’s certainly showing his best football.”

Jones’ development over the last 12 months has been a major boost for Liverpool, with the midfielder looking like a real Premier League player in recent weeks.

And things are only getting better for Jones, who is now realistically one of Liverpool’s most reliable players and someone Klopp can rely on.

Whilst it’s unknown how far Jones can go, the midfielder is showing all the right signs at Liverpool in this current squad, and the 22-year-old can lead the Reds to glory this season.
