It’s that time of the year again. The time when Liverpool fans get excited about the prospect of Kylian Mbappe and the Frenchman potentially signing for the club.
We’ve been here before on plenty of times, but every time we always get sucked into the allure. He’s one of the best players in the world, and with people like Julien Laurens describing how he ‘really, really, likes’ the club – it’s hard not to be excited.
But there is a reality that we must all come back down to. The logistics of a deal for Mbappe makes this a really difficult deal for Liverpool to pull off – bordering on near impossible.
And Jurgen Klopp has spoken about that in the past.

What Jurgen Klopp has said
Speaking to Sky Germany last summer, Klopp revealed his coaching staff ‘laugh’ about the prospect of signing Mbappe.
“We laugh about it,” Klopp said. “I can say that I think he’s a really good player but the financial conditions don’t suit us at all. I wouldn’t like to ruin the story now… but as far as I know, there’s nothing to it.”
However, the Liverpool boss didn’t entirely rule out the possibility of signing the Frenchman.
“It’s possible that someone else from the club is preparing something and wants to surprise me… that hasn’t happened in the eight years that I’ve been here. That would be the first time.”
That’s Klopp being his facetious best. Which means right now Mbappe still very much seems like a distant fantasy. But with Liverpool Football Club you just never know – they do have a tendency to surprise you.
