2023 has been an unusual year for Liverpool, though that’s not to say there’s been a lack of good moments for the Reds.
Heading into 2024 firmly in the Premier League title race and through to the next round of the UEFA Europa League, there’s a lot to be excited for in the new year.
And here are our three best moments from 2023, with Liverpool fans having quite a lot to cheer about this year at Anfield.
Liverpool smash seven past Manchester United in historic win

There’s only really one place to start, that being Liverpool’s record-breaking 7-0 win against Manchester United in March of last season.
Heading into the break 1-0 up, the Reds looked like they were cruising to another win against their old English rivals. Yet the second-half provided something truly incredible.
Goals from Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Liverpool legend Roberto Firmino left United speechless as the Reds secured a 7-0 win, the Red Devils’ biggest defeat in Premier League history.
Darwin Nunez stars in comeback win vs Newcastle United

Comeback wins are in Liverpool’s blood, from the miracle of Anfield against FC Barcelona in 2019 to that one night in Istanbul against AC Milan.
And 2023 saw Liverpool add another entry to this famed list of fixtures at St James’ Park, with Darwin Nunez scoring twice to transform a 1-0 loss into a 2-1 win against Newcastle United.
With Virgil van Dijk being sent off early on, it’s quite amazing Liverpool managed to get something from this fixture, let alone all three points. And the win at Newcastle will be remembered for some time.
Liverpool shock the world with Dominik Szoboszlai signing

The goal of the summer window this year was simple, overhaul the midfield and shape it around players who could play for years to come, starting off with Alexis Mac Allister.
And after a dramatic 24 hours, Liverpool quickly added Dominik Szoboszlai to their ranks in a £60m deal from RB Leipzig, with the signing arguably one of the most exciting the Reds have made in years.
Whilst the midfielder’s form has been questionable heading into 2024, there’s no denying that the 23-year-old has the potential to become a superstar for the Reds, and a true successor to Steven Gerrard at Liverpool.
