2024 is shaping up to be quite a year for Liverpool having ended 2023 on a massive high in both the Premier League and in Europe.
The Reds find themselves firmly in the fight for the English title having kept up the pace with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City, with 2024 a year that could see Liverpool bring the Premier League back to Anfield.
Yet things could be player for some Liverpool players next year, and here are three names who have to improve in 2024 if they’re to have a future at the club.
Alexis Mac Allister

Signed this summer for £35m, there were a lot of expectations around Alexis Mac Allister and what the Argentine international will bring to Liverpool’s squad.
However, nobody would have expected the 24-year-old to become Liverpool’s newest defensive midfielder, a role Mac Allister is still adjusting to.
Unless Jurgen Klopp makes the decision to sign a natural anchor man, Mac Allister will need to improve quickly if he’s to have a settled role in Liverpool’s squad, though a change in role could do this for the former Brighton & Hove Albion star.
Kostas Tsimikas

It’s been an interesting season for Kostas Tsimikas, who due to injury to Andy Robertson has actually become a regular for Liverpool this campaign.
Whilst performances haven’t been awful, consistency is clearly an issue for the Greek international, who can go from a world-class left-back one game to quite a passenger in the next.
Heading of 2024, Tsimikas will need to nail down his level of consistency if he’s to challenge Robertson for the left-back position, with the defender being hailed by Klopp as an ‘insane’ defender.
Darwin Nunez

Few players are as entertaining in England as Darwin Nunez, yet the Liverpool striker is also one of the most frustrating.
Whilst there has been a noticeable improvement in the attacker’s game this year, it’s still very clear that Nunez needs to be doing more if he’s to reassure fans that he is the right man to lead the live for Liverpool.
And 2024 could be the make-or-break year for Nunez, who is still underperforming in terms of goals scored this season despite a big improvement in the last 12 months.
