Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Diogo Jota could soon return to Liverpool action having been involved in a recent training session.

The Portuguese international has been out for over a month after picking up an injury against Manchester City, though Jota is close to making a full recovery.

The £40m signing from Wolves missed this weekend’s clash against Arsenal, with Liverpool losing another player through injury on Saturday in the form of Kostas Tsimikas.

And speaking to the press, Klopp has indicated that Jota could now be back as early as Boxing Day to face Burnley, with the forward taking part in an intense training session.

“I don’t want to rule out anybody now. We will see. He didn’t train with the team yet and we have only one proper session, so it would be a surprise – but maybe I will be surprised and all fine.

“I don’t know. I saw him [on Friday]; he didn’t train with the team but the session I saw was really intense, but I didn’t ask yet who will be available. The medical department will tell me and then I will know more.”

Whilst Liverpool won’t be going into Christmas Day top of the Premier League, heading into 2024 sitting in first place is more than achievable for the Reds.

And Jota’s return could be huge in the Anfield side achieving this goal, with the Portuguese international one of the most clinical players in the Liverpool squad.

With Darwin Nunez yet to score in the Premier League since October, it could be a good time to bring Jota back into the fold to add more firepower to the frontline.

And Klopp’s comments strongly hint that Jota might be back in time for Boxing Day, a boost that would be huge for Liverpool.
