VfL Wolfsburg could reportedly sell Maxence Lacroix for as little as £30m, with Liverpool linked with a move for the 23-year-old defender.

The centre-back has been one of the best in the Bundesliga ever since making the move to Wolfsburg from FC Sochaux, with Liverpool now reportedly interested in signing Lacroix.

Injury to Joel Matip has left the Reds short at the back, with options now being weighed up as Jurgen Klopp looks to spend in the January market.

And according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Wolfsburg could sell Lacroix for £30m, though whether or not Liverpool are willing to meet this fee is another story entirely.

Lauded by Wolfsburg teammate and Belgian international Koen Casteels as a ‘very talented’ player, Lacroix would certainly suit the Premier League due to his size and athleticism.

And for Liverpool, the French defender could be just what they need if they’re to add to their backline in the new year, especially if Lacroix is available for £30m.

Whilst Lacroix’s form hasn’t been the best in recent weeks, with the defender getting sent off on the weekend, the defender is certainly an interesting prospect for a club like Liverpool.

A tall centre-back at 6’3″ yet one who is immensely good on the ball, Lacroix has all the tools needed to flourish at a top Premier League side, especially alongside another defender like Ibrahima Konate.

And for Liverpool, there is no harm in attempting to sign Lacroix, who could be quite the signing for the Reds if they can get Wolfsburg to talk over a potential deal.

Indeed, the Frenchman has been touted with a move to England for some time, and January could finally be the window when Lacroix makes the leap to the Premier League, with Liverpool waiting in the wings.
