David Raya has made a claim about Liverpool’s atmosphere ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Anfield this weekend in the Premier League.

The Gunners head north at the top of the standings as Mikel Arteta’s side look to make it two years in a row where Arsenal have been sat in first place in the Premier League on Christmas Day.

Yet Anfield has historically been one of Arsenal’s toughest grounds to visit, with the pressure and the atmosphere usually getting to the north London side.

And Raya, speaking to the Evening Standard, has highlighted how tough it will be for Arsenal to deal with the atmosphere, even if Gary Neville recently criticised the noise at Anfield against Manchester United.

Raya said: “Of course it is a massive game for any of the top teams playing against Liverpool away from home – with Anfield and the atmosphere, like you said before.

“It is a top, top game and we have to focus on ourselves, focus on the three points and do the best to get them.”

Liverpool need to use Anfield as their secret weapon against Arsenal

Arsenal are no strangers to buckling under the pressure of Anfield’s atmosphere, despite what Neville had to say about Liverpool’s stadium on the weekend.

The Gunners blew a 2-0 lead last season at Anfield after a challenge on Trent Alexander-Arnold woke up the home crowd and almost resulted in Liverpool coming from behind to win the game.

And if the Reds are to come away with a famous win against the Gunners, Liverpool fans have to make Anfield as hostile as it has been this season.

Indeed, Anfield is a legendary English crowd for all the right reasons, and Arsenal can collapse under the pressure if Liverpool fans make the venue a tense one for the north London side on Saturday.
