Andy Robertson joined Liverpool icon Sir Kenny Dalglish as he accepted a Lifetime Achievement award last night.

Dalglish was rightfully recognised with the gong during the BBC’s Sports Personality of Year awards on Tuesday evening. After a lifetime dedicated to football and charity work, it was richly deserved for the King.

Presented the award by former Liverpool teammate Alan Hansen, Kenny was joined on stage by a number of Reds legends of the past. Also alongside John Barnes, Ian Rush and a teary Graeme Souness was one of Jurgen Klopp’s current, modern-day legends: Andy Robertson.

It was a big moment for Robertson to be in such exalted Liverpool company. And taking to Instagram this morning, the 29-year-old looked back on a great night.

“An honour and a privilege to be part of Sir Kenny’s big night,” Robertson wrote. “Congratulations on your lifetime achievement award. There could be no more worthy recipient.”

Hear hear, Robbo! Congrats Sir Kenny!

We’re obviously not sure how the invites were sorted out for this one, but it was a nice touch to have those from Dalglish’s past and present on-stage with him.

Wife Marina was of course there, as were Kenny’s Premier League winning captain at Blackburn, Tim Sherwood and star striker Alan Shearer.

Daughter Kelly Cates took to the stage too, as well as a host of other figures from the great man’s life.

For Robertson, it must have been a brilliant and emotional affair. Unlike the others standing with him, the Liverpool left-back has had no direct work with Kenny during his career.

But just as Dalglish before him, Robbo is Scotland captain and it was great to have a current Liverpool presence to honour King Kenny. Who better than the man who proudly wears the armband for the pair’s country.

The two do also seem to get on well, and have been seen interacting plenty in the past on social media.

As he ever was, Dalglish is still ingrained into the fabric of Liverpool, and he’ll get a superb response whenever he’s next at Anfield. Potentially this evening against West Ham.

For Robertson, it’ll be a little longer before we see him. But by the looks of him last night, the shoulder is healing well! A good night all round.
