Liverpool reportedly still hold a strong interest in signing Kalvin Phillips, who is expected to leave Manchester City in the January window.
The England international has hardly featured for Pep Guardiola’s side since singing last year in a £45m deal, with Phillips now due to depart Manchester to find regular game time elsewhere.
And Liverpool have been constantly linked with a move for Phillips, with the Reds looking to sign a defensive midfielder in a bid to strengthen their Premier League title bid.

Now, according to CalcioMercato, Liverpool still retains a strong interest in signing Phillips despite growing competition from the likes of Juventus and English rivals Newcastle United.
Indeed, Phillips could be a useful signing for Liverpool if the Reds can somehow convince City to sell the England international to them in January.
However, given how good Phillips could be for a club like Liverpool, the odds of City selling to a Premier League rival next month could be close to zero.
Liverpool could be pushed into a corner in signing Kalvin Phillips

Lauded by Kieran Trippier as a ‘phenomenal’ player, Phillips would bring exactly what Liverpool are currently missing from their midfield options.
A true defensive midfielder who has been there and done it in the Premier League could be the difference between Liverpool winning the league or only finishing in the top-four.
However, given who Phillips plays for, City just won’t let Liverpool sign a player they really need inn order to fuel their own bid for the English championship.
As a result, Liverpool could struggle to sign Phillips, especially when everyone knows just how good the defensive midfielder is when fit and firing in the Premier League.
