John Barnes has said that Darwin Nunez could be worth as much as £150m if the Liverpool striker’s finishing was better.

The Uruguay international has established quite a reputation for himself as one of the most enjoyable players in the Premier League since moving to the Reds last year from Benfica.

Whilst Nunez’s style of play has entertained Liverpool fans and neutrals alike, the 24-year-old has also caused massive frustration with supporters over his inconsistent finishing.

And speaking to This Is Anfield, Liverpool legend Barnes claimed that Nunez could be worth £150m if the attacker was as consistent a finisher as the likes fo Erling Haaland and Reds icon Robbie Fowler.

Barnes said about Nunez: “He creates chances himself, if Darwin Nunez was a finisher like Robbie Fowler, he would be worth £150m and scoring 50 goals a year.

“He can do what Erling Haaland can’t and Erling Haaland can do what he can’t. He will score goals, he will work hard for the team and he chases back. I don’t see another centre-forward doing that. In terms of what he has and what he gives us he’s fine, he’s never going to be a Robbie Fowler.”

Nunez’s attacking qualities are clear for everybody to see, with the Uruguay international’s all-round play some of the best from any forward in the Premier League.

However, there’s no denying that the striker’s finishing needs to be more consistent, and Liverpool getting this from Nunez could make the Reds unstoppable.

As we know, Mohamed Salah is the main goalscorer for Liverpool and has been for some years, with the Reds also having the likes of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino to rely on for a goal or two.

And if Nunez can become as consistent as these Liverpool legends, there’s no telling how good the attacker could become at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.
