Liverpool have booked their ticket to the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League, and heading into Thursday’s dead rubber, the likes of Lewis Koumas will be smelling an opportunity.

The 18-year-old attacker, as per the Liverpool Echo, has been named in the Reds’ B List for the clash against Union Saint-Gilloise this week, along with a number of other Liverpool academy prospects.

As the only player in the 11-man list yet to make his senior debut, Thursday’s clash in Belgium could be the perfect chance for Jurgen Klopp to try something rather special with Koumas.

Lauded by Liverpool’s U-18 manager Marc Bridge-Wilkinson as an ‘outstanding’ prospect, there’s a lot to like when it comes to Koumas and his potential at the Reds.

A natural winger who in recent years has found a role for himself as a centre-forward, Koumas has been a productive goalscorer throughout Liverpool’s various youth teams.

With four goals and three assists already this season playing across the attack, Koumas’ versatility could make the youngster a real asset for Liverpool, especially this week against Union SG.

Klopp has been quite generous with giving minutes to academy products this season in the Europa League, and Koumas could now be next to take the leap into the senior squad.

The versatile attacker has shown this season and throughout the years that he has the quality to leave his mark in the first-team and to be a real threat in Liverpool’s side.

And this week’s trip to Belgium could not be a more perfect chance for Koumas to show what he’s made of, with the attacker ready for his chance in Europe and in Liverpool’s first-team.
