Chris Sutton has claimed that Liverpool got lucky against Crystal Palace after Jordan Ayew was sent off for the Eagles in the second half.
The 32-year-old attacker picked up a second yellow card for Palace with the hosts already 1-0 up, with Mohamed Salah scoring almost immediately after the sending-off.
As we know, the Reds went on to win via a late Harvey Elliott goal, with Palace coming close to equalising, and the game could have been different had Ayew not been sent off.

Whilst an argument could be made that it was a booking, most fans would agree that it was a soft yellow card for Ayew, and speaking on the Monday Night Club, Sutton has now claimed Liverpool got lucky over the decision.
Sutton said: “The more they do this, the more you half fancy them to nick the title, with Manchester City and the wheels coming off a little bit. You just sense it may be their season. Let’s get it right at the weekend, they got very lucky.
“It was never a sending-off, it was absolutely ridiculous. So when things start to go their way like that you sense they are building momentum and just imagine being in that Liverpool dressing room, that’s 18 points from losing positions that Liverpool have taken. That is phenomenal. So the belief within the dressing room now, they will believe they can carry that on.”
Liverpool know they got super lucky against Crystal Palace

If you’re to win anything in football, you’re going need to a bit of luck on your side to get over the finish line, and Liverpool got just that on Saturday.
Ayew’s sending off was a soft one and one that we are seeing an alarming number of now in the Premier League as officials look to flex their new powers on the pitch.
And for Liverpool, the Reds simply do not win this fixture if Ayew isn’t sent off, with the Ghana international causing Jurgen Klopp’s side all sorts of problems on the day in south London.
