The 23-year-old Bundesliga centre-back is one of the most exciting prospects in world football, with Lacroix establishing himself in Germany as a real talent and defensive unit.

As a result, Liverpool are reportedly now interested in signing the French youngster, though a move in January now looks to be off the table for the Reds heading into 2024.

According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the former FC Sochaux star is not a target for Liverpool for January, with the Anfield side looking to sign a centre-back.

Indeed, Liverpool making the decision to not pursue Lacroix is an interesting one given how good the Bundesliga defender has been in recent years.

Moreover, with the Reds having the funds to make a deal possible, Lacroix could have been an ideal defender for Liverpool to target heading into the January transfer window.

Liverpool not moving for Maxence Lacroix is an odd decision

With Joel Matip potentially out until the end of the season, Liverpool not looking to replace the 32-year-old with a defender like Lacroix is an interesting decision.

Young, strong and athletic, Lacroix is a modern-day centre-back that has taken Germany by storm in recent years based on his performances with Wolfsburg.

Whilst there are clearly other targets in mind for Liverpool, Lacroix would have been an ideal solution for the Reds, though this avenue now looks unlikely heading into 2024.
