Jamie Carragher says something has happened at Man United which never would have at Liverpool

Jamie Carragher has highlighted that Manchester United’s consistent dressing room links would never have happened at Liverpool.

It’s been another normal week for the Red Devils as United’s press secretary in recent days banned journalists from four major UK publications from attending Erik Ten Hag’s press conference.

Whilst the Old Trafford side managed to win last night against Chelsea, the circus off the pitch has again dominated headlines. And Carragher, speaking on Stick to Football, highlighted that none of this would have happened at Liverpool.

Carragher said: “I was at a club where I don’t think there is any other club like Liverpool, in terms of how the supporters treat a manager.

“The manager at Liverpool is like a God. If Liverpool are successful it’s always the manager. It’s not the players, right now it’s Klopp, it’s Shankly, it’s Paisley, Dalglish – all these figures. So the manager at Liverpool has so much power, I always feel.

“So those things at Liverpool when I was there never really came out against the manager because the supporters and the board would always be really with the manager. It wouldn’t be a case of speaking to the players, what do you think of the manager, that would never happen. These type of things never came out.”

Liverpool would never have devolved like Manchester United have

As Carragher says himself, the main man at Liverpool has often been the manager, with Jurgen Klopp running a pretty tight and fully operational ship at Anfield.

The same can’t be said at United, though, where since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson the Premier League giants have made mistake after mistake.

And banning journalists from press conferences is only the latest in a long line of slip-ups from United, with the Red Devils once again taking on a problem with the worst possible action.

Indeed, Liverpool would never have allowed themselves to devolve as quickly as United have, and fans are aware that they are safe from such a collapse even if Klopp was to suddenly leave.
