Gary Neville has suggested that he would rather play for Jurgen Klopp over Pep Guardiola if the former Manchester United captain was still playing.

The Liverpool manager is regarded as one of the best coaches in the 21st century having led Borussia Dortmund and now the Reds to incredible success in the last 15 years.

A Premier League and UEFA Champions League winner with Liverpool, Klopp’s style of football has been one of the most revolutionary in the modern era and one that has made the Anfield side one of the best in the world.

And speaking on Stick to Football, Neville said that he would rather play for Klopp over Guardiola, the only other manager with as big an influence on the game in recent years than the Liverpool boss.

Indeed, it is perhaps no real surprise why Neville chose Klopp over Guardiola, even with the former United defender as closely linked to the Old Trafford side as he is.

Neville said: “If I was still playing now, I would prefer to play for Jurgen Klopp over Pep Guardiola purely for the football he plays. It’s the style of football that I like with the speed, power and aggression.”

In the post-Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger world of the Premier League, no two managers have been as good or as influential than Klopp and Guardiola.

Yet if you were to ask pundits and players which coach they would rather play under, most would likely come back with Klopp as the answer due to the German’s style.

Fast, thrilling and brilliant, there’s a reason Klopp is regarded as one of the best managers in Premier League history which in turn has made the Liverpool coach a legend at Anfield.

And although Guardiola is a genius in his own regard, there’s no denying that playing under Klopp could be more fun for players, who have been drawn to Liverpool because of the German.
